Paris

 "Parlez-Vous Anglais?"

That was about the only French I spoke over the whole 5 days in Paris as every time I spoke that phrase I always got the response "a little bit" when in actual fact they could speak fluent English. It makes me regret not making more of an effort to learn another language.

For my twenty-first birthday my boyfriend treated me to 5 days in Paris, a place I had always wanted to visit.  With so much to see our week included lots of travel and lots of photographs, so I thought I would share some with you here.

Of course the first thing we wanted to find was the Eiffel Tower and due to the sheer size of the structure it wasn't really difficult.  A few minutes on the train and we were there.   Unfortunately we didn't go up the tower due to extremely long queues and to be completely honest I think being that high up might have made me feel a bit queasy.

Something I really liked about Paris was the fact that they have merry-go-rounds spontaneously placed near the main tourist attractions.  I loved how detailed they were and the vintage looking design.  Every time we passed them I thought of Mary Poppins and waited eagerly for the horses to ride off on their own, which of course, rather to my disappointment, didn't happen.

I feel that this photo deserves a special mention.  Check out the brave guy in the "I Heart Paris" hoodie taking a selfie with the Arc De Triomphe.

Once we had worked out how to get into the Arc De Triomphe, I was amazed by the detail put into the design of it, and despite the rain it was definitely "a must see".

Ever since I first saw Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame at the age of 3 I had wanted to visit the cathedral.  The first thing I noticed was that it is much larger than the Disney film would lead you to believe, but the architecture was just as beautiful as I had hoped.  Of course the main attraction was the stain glass window, again this did not disappoint.

Whilst in the area we went to visit the Pont De L'Archeveche (the padlock bridge), it looked amazing.  There were no empty spaces, however we did find a place to add on our padlocks.

I was very adamant that our padlocks would be locked onto the bridge and not on top of someone else's padlock.

Finally we visited Le Louvre.  As I'm sure you can imagine I took hundreds of photos so won't share them all, but the one above of the glass pyramid is one of my favourites.  We did get to see the Mona Lisa however due to the crowds we couldn't get close enough to get a good quality photo.  My photos consist more of the backs of peoples heads than the painting!
