Into The Woods

If you follow me on Twitter (which you should by the way *winky face*) you will know that last Sunday I went to see Disney's Into the Woods.  I love Disney and musicals, so this was one film I had to go and see.

This film is filled with great songs, great costumes and a really great cast.  As always Meryl Streep performs her role of the Wicked Witch incredibly.  She is haunting but also loveable. She allows us to see the soft side of the character as well as the scary.

James Corden and Emily Blunt, what a double act! They work really well together.  They make such a believable couple and make you really route for their relationship.

I must admit that my favourite character is Cinderella, played by the beautiful Anna Kendrick.  I had not seen Anna Kendrick in anything other than Twilight and I must admit that I was shocked.  I love the way she portrays Cinderella.  Her singing voice is as beautiful as she is and her costume and makeup is lovely.

Johnny Depp's performance as the wolf was one I was very excited to see as I love all of Johnny Depp's previous roles.  Although I love his character and the way it is played, I was slightly disappointed as he did not have much screen time.

All of the actors are amazing but just to name a few more; the two child actors, Daniel Huttlestone and Lilla Crawford who are brilliant in their roles of Jack and Little Red Riding Hood and work really well together; Chris Pine as the Prince who is everything you would want from a Disney Prince, Handsome and Charming but also rather comical; and finally Rapunzel played by Mackenzie Mauzy who has the most amazing singing voice.

The songs are really good and really help to tell the story however I don't think that I could listen to just the soundtrack.  I think all the songs are very similar and I feel the film is lacking just that one, upbeat happy song that we would all leave the cinema singing to, but apart from that I love it.

The costumes, designed by Colleen Atwood are amazing.  I love all the period clothing, my favourite being Cinderella's dresses, not only her ball gown but also her rags. I love the shape and colours.

Overall I would recommend this film to anyone who is a fan of fairytales and princess stories.

Have you seen it yet?  What did you think?
