Getting used to glasses

I have had glasses for just over a year now and I've only just become 100% comfortable wearing them.   This wasn't because of the way they feel or the way they change my eyesight (for the better).  It is pure vanity.  It's getting used to the way they look on my face, although it did take some getting used to being able to see clearly again.

I need glasses for seeing far away (I can't remember if that's long or short sighted, I always get them muddled) driving mostly, but also for things like watching TV or lectures.

I had my eyes tested and brought my glasses from Specsavers.  The staff were great and I highly recommend listening to the staff and their opinion. They help people choose glasses everyday so they know what looks good. I was also surprised at how honest they were.  As soon as he said I didn't look good in one pair I believed everything he said about the other 30 pairs I tried - and I did try a lot! I ended up taking home the first pair I tried on.  I also chose not to get anyone else's opinion. Nic was choosing his glasses at the same time but I felt his expression may not be the one I was hoping for and that that might make me change my mind, so I just went with the staff's opinion.

I picked two pairs that day.  The first pair are more for everyday wear, these are my driving glasses. They are by the brand Firetrap.   The second pair I bought for work and lectures, however I don't really wear these. They are by Bench and have purple frames.  I liked these because they didn't have the frames along the bottom edge however this is also the reason I don't wear them often.  They almost split your vision across the middle making it difficult to look down without tilting your head.

I found that wearing them as much as possible was really the best way to get used to them.  Getting used to the way they feel and seeing yourself wearing them.  This is also a great excuse for taking lots of selfies!  The more you see yourself wearing them, the more confident you will feel in them and you will soon forget that you haven't always worn them.
